WHAT WE DO
We are RedBobble Theatre Company, three female artists (Kelly Munro-Fawcett, Louisa May Parker and Martha Simon) based in the North with a collective passion to create touring theatre that is BRAVE, CHALLENGING, INSPIRING and INCLUSIVE.
We believe in SIMPLE and HONEST STORY-TELLING; big themes that resonate through small personal stories. Our stories so far have been rooted in social and political issues and we aim to investigate our times to enable
self-understanding and growth.
We believe in STRONG ROLES for WOMEN, by that we mean accurate and truly representative of the female sex.
We’re passionate advocates for PARENTS IN THE INDUSTRY and aim to provide opportunities for those wanting to maintain a career in theatre. We’re currently developing ways in which we can ease the burdening cost of childcare by trialling child friendly rehearsals.
We work COLLABORATIVELY and actively seek out new artists and practitioners to create with and to learn from.
We believe that EVERYONE deserves the opportunity to engage with theatre and after trialling a tour of studio theatres alongside COMMUNITY venues in 2016, we now aim to take all our work into hard to reach areas with low arts engagement.
Also experienced WORKSHOP LEADERS, we’re currently developing our OUTREACH work with regular sessions at The International Family Centre, Bolton for non-English speaking child refugees aged 5-15 and ‘drop in’ groups in collaboration with charity Link4Life for people aged 65-90 in Heywood and Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
Our influences include Tonic Theatre, Knee High, Rash Dash, Out of Joint, Gecko Theatre, directors such as Chris Honer, Sarah Frankcom and acting practitioners Mike Alfreds and Uta Hagen. We admire their bravery, feminism, resourcefulness, inquisitiveness, imagination, relevance and integrity.
